Word is that the move will take Hov another step closer to becoming a full-fledged sports agent.
Jay-Z Wanted To Keep Nets' Logo 'Classic'
In the months leading up to the Nets' move from New Jersey last year, Jay helped to re-brand the team with a new logo and new uniforms. By September, Jay had christened the Nets' new home with a string of eight sold-out shows at the Barclays Center, before the team kicked off their 2012-13 campaign. Though ESPN reports that the rap mogul only owned .067 percent of the team, Jay's contribution as a Nets ambassador is much tougher to quantify.
"It would be disappointing [if he left]," Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo told ESPN. "He had an enormous amount to do with the rebranding of the team. I wasn't close to it at all, but from what I've seen, it would be hard to overstate his importance in this all. I like his involvement in the team; he's at the games, and maybe he's around more than I realize behind the scenes. But he's an excellent fan, one that wasn't just around this year, but a lot in the past, too, which is very telling to me."
